Default The free indie game thread

Just thought I'd make a thread about free indie games that you guys like and would want to share. Here are a few on my mind, and I'll probably keep this updated.

Blasting Agent

A very minimalist styled side scrolling shooter. Flash-based so it runs right in your browser.

Dino Run

This reminds me a lot of the old Sonic games, the basic premise is that it's the end of the world and you're running from the oncoming apocalypse. Run for your life! It's very free flowing and fun. Flash-based so it runs right in your browser.

Canabalt

A similar premise to Dino Run, Canabalt is a very simple game. The only control you have is to jump, and the guy naturally begins to accelerate. You need to strategically get hit once you start to go too fast in order to properly manage your jumps. Gets pretty addictive, and the levels are randomly generated. Flash-based so it runs right in your browser.

Continuity

A puzzle game, you have to arrange the level as well as navigate through it in order to reach the exit. If it's confusing at first, you have to make sure that all the openings meet up with what you're connecting it to in order for it to act as a valid passage. Flash-based so it runs right in your browser.

Spelunky

One of my most played games of last year. Spelunky! It's almost hard to explain it, as it's like a rogue-like platformer that acts as a homage to Spelunker and La Mulana, Spelunky is basically a platforming action game with randomized levels in which a lot of things can happen, and expect to die a lot. It takes a while to make progress, but it's fun the entire time through.

Eversion

A cutesy platformer with a sinister underside, it's definitely worth playing, but I'll stop with that. The game isn't what you'd expect from first impression.

IJi

Metroid like game, has a pretty sweet upgrade system to. Graphics are kind of bad, but it's free so you really can't complain.

RunMan: Race Around the World

Imagine if Sonic games were still good, and if they were hilarious and made of MS Paint-like visuals. Well, that's RunMan in a nutshell.

Download.

The best freeware game I've ever come across is continuum. It's a space ship shooting game. Extreme Games is the best zone, its basicaly multiplayer (up to 40 people) capture the flag.

Continuity was pretty cool, but kind of too long to care about at the end. Eversion is awesome. I played it a long time ago, and it blew me away. Amazing twist. I don't play too many indie games though. Most of the time, it just seems like a stupid concept or it's another tower defense or some other kind of clone. My favorite was I Wanna Be the Guy. I made it all the way to The Guy, but I just couldn't beat him. That game is brutal.

Here is a link for continuum:
Continuum - Meet people from all over the world...then kill them.

Setup is easy just run the program and follow the instructions.
You have to create a profile before you can play its just your gamer name and email (you can use a fake email address if you want).
