If I ever wanted to use the tv for internet I could just use my laptop's HDMI port. I would much rather MS get a deal with Hulu so I can stream tv episodes using my 360.

I have a laptop so i wouldnt really need the internet on the xbox 360. but even if they did have it they would find some way to make people pay rediculous amounts to use it. and im pretty sure you can connect any generic keyboard to your 360 for typing stuff

I've wondered the same thing, but then again I guess I don't really need it.
I have the Wii browser but I don't even use it. I could see the benefit though for people who don't have a computer (do people not have computers yet?) Quote:

I always figured that one reason was to avoid any possible exploits that might turn up because of it.
I mean sure, the PS3 has it and no exploits turned up from it so far, but we've seen by now that the 360 is much less secure, hardware and software wise - partially due to the fact that the environment is a lot closer to a PC running Windows, at least compared to the PS3. I wouldn't be surprised if a browser on the 360 would eventually lead to exploits, viruses, etc... Another example is the fact that the Indie Games require that you stay connected to Live. I'm pretty sure one reason for that is the fear of some hidden exploit hidden by a developer that got through the screening process. If you have to stay connected to live, at least they have a way to monitor and block things like that. Basically until microsoft get their game straight, security wise, the 360 will continue to be "crippled", and lacking on non-gaming features. Even when we do get them (facebook for example) they're a shadow of their PC counterpart. |

I do enjoy being able to surf YouTube on the Wii and having the videos displayed on the TV. You can stream other stuff to the 360 via Media Center and/or Tversity... it just seems like a browser should be there. Then again, I've gotten along gaming for 20 years without an internet browser, and think that I'll be fine without it... it would just be convenient at times I suppose.

Its pretty bad that the Xbox 360 doesn't have a internet browser. It should have a internet browser, since the other two competitors offer it in their system. Microsoft probably didn't want their Xbox 360 to be like a PC, but more like a gaming system. Most people already have a PC, so having an internet browser on the Xbox 360 would be a bonus, but Microsoft didn't want to include it. Microsoft could always add the internet browser into their Xbox 360 system by releasing a new firmware with it, but Microsoft prefers people using Xbox Live and gaming with each other.

My TV also double as a monitor because it has a component for computers. I've browsed the internet on a 32in tv before. It's not that exciting and gives you a headache more than anything. Last edited by D Skylark; 01-17-2010 at 02:10 PM. |

Have you turned on your 360 recently? :P It's not just a game console anymore. It's an all-in-one media device! It's got the Zune Marketplace, Netflix, Facebok, and uhh... stuff. So yeah. That's not really a good excuse as to why it doesn't have Internet. But I agree Internet is not necessary. I had to use my PS3's browser when my laptop broke, and I tried to use it as little as possible, because it was ass. I won't ever use it again unless I have another computer breaking.
